How to dress for a wessing

Attending a wedding is a special occasion, and it’s important to dress appropriately to show respect to the couple getting married. However, figuring out what to wear can be a bit daunting. With so many different dress codes and styles, it can be overwhelming to choose the perfect outfit. But fear not, here are some tips on how to dress for a wedding.

1. Know the dress code
The first and most important step in dressing for a wedding is to know the dress code. The invitation should specify the dress code, whether it’s formal, semi-formal, black tie, or casual. This will give you a general idea of what to wear and how formal or casual the event will be. If the invitation doesn’t specify a dress code, don’t be afraid to ask the couple or the wedding planner for clarification.

2. Dress according to the venue
The location of the wedding can also give you a clue on what to wear. A beach wedding may call for a more relaxed and flowy outfit, while a wedding in a ballroom may require a more formal attire. Take into consideration the time of day as well, as daytime weddings tend to be less formal than evening ones.

3. Choose appropriate colors
When it comes to colors, it’s important to avoid wearing white, as it is traditionally reserved for the bride. It’s also best to steer clear of black, as it can be seen as too somber for a joyous occasion like a wedding. Instead, opt for pastel or vibrant colors, depending on the season and dress code.

4. Avoid anything too revealing
A wedding is not the time to show off too much skin. Avoid anything too revealing or tight, as it can be seen as inappropriate. A good rule of thumb is to choose one area to highlight, whether it’s your legs, arms, or back, and keep the rest of your outfit more modest.

5. Dress comfortably
While you want to look elegant and stylish, it’s also important to dress comfortably. Weddings can be long events, and you don’t want to spend the whole time adjusting your outfit or feeling uncomfortable. Choose fabrics that are breathable and comfortable to wear, and make sure your shoes are suitable for standing and dancing.

6. Accessorize wisely
Accessories can make or break an outfit, so choose them wisely. A statement piece of jewelry or a bold clutch can elevate a simple dress. However, it’s important not to overdo it. Stick to one or two statement pieces and keep the rest of your accessories simple.

7. Don’t forget about the weather
If the wedding is outdoors, consider the weather when choosing your outfit. You don’t want to be too hot or too cold, so make sure to check the forecast and dress accordingly. If it’s an outdoor wedding, it’s also a good idea to bring a shawl or jacket in case it gets chilly.

In conclusion, dressing for a wedding can be a fun and exciting task. Remember to follow the dress code, choose appropriate colors, and dress comfortably while still looking elegant. And most importantly, have fun and enjoy celebrating the special day with the couple!

Set your goals and dreams

Being productive today gives me a sense of success. Stay focus on your dreams and goals, However, it is important to remember that productivity should not solely be measured by financial success. Success can also be found in personal growth, relationships, and overall well-being. It is important to stay focused on your dreams and goals, but also to prioritize self-care and balance in life. There is enough success and abundance for everyone, and we should support and uplift each other rather than compete and compare.

How to handle unhappy online customers

In today’s digital age, businesses rely heavily on their online presence to attract and retain customers. While this has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for businesses, it has also made them susceptible to negative feedback and complaints from unhappy customers. Dealing with unhappy online customers can be a daunting task, but it is essential for maintaining a positive reputation and retaining customers. Here are some tips on how to handle unhappy online customers.

1. Listen and Acknowledge

The first step in handling unhappy online customers is to listen to their complaints and acknowledge their feelings. It is important to make them feel heard and understood. Take the time to read their message or review thoroughly and try to understand the root cause of their dissatisfaction. This will help you formulate an appropriate response and show the customer that you value their opinion.

2. Respond Promptly

In the world of social media and instant messaging, customers expect a prompt response to their complaints. Ignoring or delaying a response can escalate the situation and make the customer even more unhappy. Therefore, it is crucial to respond to their complaint as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours. This shows that you are taking their concerns seriously and are committed to resolving the issue.

3. Apologize and Empathize

A sincere apology can go a long way in diffusing a tense situation. Even if the customer’s complaint is not entirely justified, it is important to apologize for the inconvenience they have experienced. This shows that you value their patronage and are willing to take responsibility for any mistakes on your end. Additionally, empathizing with their situation can help build a rapport and show that you understand their frustration.

4. Offer a Solution

After apologizing and empathizing, the next step is to offer a solution to the customer’s problem. This can be in the form of a refund, a replacement, or any other appropriate course of action. It is important to be transparent and explain your solution clearly to the customer. If the customer is still not satisfied with the solution, try to find a middle ground or offer alternatives. The key is to show that you are willing to work towards resolving their issue.

5. Take the Conversation Offline

Sometimes, a customer’s complaint may require more detailed or personal attention. In such cases, it is best to take the conversation offline and communicate with the customer through private messages or emails. This not only shows that you are willing to give their complaint the attention it deserves, but it also avoids any further negative exchanges on a public platform.

6. Follow Up

After resolving the customer’s complaint, it is important to follow up with them to ensure that they are satisfied with the solution provided. This shows that you care about their experience and are genuinely interested in their satisfaction. It also gives you the opportunity to gather feedback and make improvements to prevent similar issues in the future.

In conclusion, handling unhappy online customers requires patience, empathy, and effective communication. It is essential to address their concerns promptly, apologize sincerely, and offer a suitable solution. By following these steps, businesses can not only resolve customer complaints but also build a positive reputation and retain loyal customers. Remember, a happy customer can turn into a loyal brand advocate, so it is crucial to handle unhappy customers with care and professionalism.

How to style outfits yourself

When it comes to fashion, there are endless possibilities for expressing your personal style through your outfits. However, with so many options, it can also be overwhelming to know where to start. Many people turn to fashion influencers and magazines for inspiration, but the truth is, you don’t need to spend a fortune or rely on others to style your outfits. With a few simple tips and tricks, you can learn how to style outfits yourself and create unique and stylish looks.

First and foremost, it’s important to know your body type and what styles flatter your figure. This will help you choose pieces that fit and enhance your natural shape. For example, if you have an hourglass figure, you may want to highlight your waist with a fitted top and high-waisted bottoms. If you have a pear-shaped body, you may want to balance out your hips with a flowy top and more fitted bottoms.

Next, consider the occasion or setting you will be dressing for. Is it a casual day out with friends or a formal event? This will determine the level of dressiness and the type of pieces you should incorporate into your outfit. For a casual look, you can opt for comfortable and relaxed pieces like a graphic tee and jeans. For a formal event, you may want to choose more tailored and structured pieces like a blazer and dress pants.

Once you have a general idea of the style and occasion, it’s time to get creative with mixing and matching different pieces. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different patterns, textures, and colors. A simple outfit can be elevated by adding a statement piece, whether it’s a bold jacket or a chunky necklace. Also, try pairing unexpected pieces together, like a flowy maxi skirt with a cropped sweater.

Accessories are also key in styling an outfit. They can add a personal touch and tie the whole look together. Don’t be afraid to play around with different accessories like hats, scarves, belts, and jewelry. They can completely transform a basic outfit into a stylish and unique one.

Another tip for styling outfits yourself is to invest in versatile and timeless pieces. These are items that can be worn in multiple ways and can be dressed up or down. A classic white button-down, a little black dress, and a pair of well-fitting jeans are all examples of versatile pieces that can be styled in endless ways.

Lastly, don’t forget to have fun with your outfits and let your personality shine through. Fashion is a form of self-expression, so don’t be afraid to take risks and wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. And remember, the most important thing is to wear your outfit with confidence – that is the key to pulling off any look. With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to style outfits yourself like a pro and create a wardrobe that truly reflects your unique style.

What’s selling: Ten recent sales for $60+

This blog post will showcase 10 sales over $60 from mid January- mid February 2024 from my online reselling ventures on Poshmark, Etsy, and Marketplace. Join me as I delve into the stories behind these successful sales and share insights that could help you maximize your own selling potential.

Banana Republic Soft Satin Maxi Dress in Blush Pink – Sold for $60

Everyone may not agree, but Banana Republic items consistently perform well for me. This is likely due to the fact that in addition to being conscious of the style, condition, and material, I’m also careful to check if the item is from Banana Republic Factory (there are 3 dots on the tag) and if it’s a recent style (check the interior tag for the season and year). This soft satin maxi dress was no exception, and it was a surprise (and oh so satisfying) full price sale after receiving several low-ball offers.

Vintage Pringle of Scotland Wool Sweater – Sold for $70

Investing a little time in refurbishing this sweater paid off. It was quite pilled when I picked it up and needed a little TLC. Its classic style and high-quality material from Pringle of Scotland, a renowned luxury knitwear brand, ensured a quick sale on Etsy. I was happy to see the buyer noted its “excellent vintage” condition in their review.

Carhartt Sherpa Lined Canvas Vest – Sold for $65

Carhartt’s popularity in the current market made this vest a fast seller on Poshmark. It sold within a day of posting. Despite receiving lots of interest locally, I chose to accept an offer on Poshmark to avoid issues with the barrage of messages and flaky buyers on Marketplace.

Lululemon Softstreme Long Sleeve Half Zip Dress in Espresso – Sold for $80

Although I often pass over Lululemon items which are typically overpriced at the thrift store, this dress stood out as a recent style and a trendy colour. Research revealed it was from Fall ’23, making it a valuable find that sold quickly with a good return.

Caron Callahan Bethany Square Neck Denim Twill Jumpsuit – Sold for $80

This jumpsuit, retailing for $550, had been in my closet for too long. Despite hoping for a higher price, I accepted an offer on Poshmark to clear out inventory and still made a good profit.

Mother Tomcat Straight Leg Jeans – Sold for $119

Mother jeans are sought after for their quality and fit, but are hard to come by in my area. Their reputation for maintaining value made these jeans an easy sell at a competitive price.

Vintage Aran Merino Wool Cardigan – Sold for $90

This is another one that required some TLC in the form of de-pilling, but its soft, warm merino wool and classic Aran knit design made it a desirable fall/winter wardrobe staple. I’ve been having great luck with vintage wool sweaters on Marketplace this winter, and this one was sold locally at full price.

Vintage 60s Camel Hair Cape – Sold for $135

Made from 100% camel hair, this vintage cape is a standout piece. Its timeless style and luxurious material made it an irresistible addition to any fashion enthusiast’s collection.

Vintage Shearling Rancher Coat – Sold for $175

A local sale on Marketplace, this genuine shearling coat captured the essence of 70s western rancher fashion. Its good condition and unique style make it a timeless statement piece.

Vintage 70s Penny Lane Style Wool Coat with Fur Trim – Sold for $350

This coat, embodying the  Penny Lane style of the 70s, sold within a week of listing on Etsy. This style of coat has been selling very well the last 2 winters, and this was no exception. Look for natural fibers (wool, fur, suede, leather, shearling etc.) for the best return on this iconic style.
