A Tapestry of Love: Juggling Motherhood, Marriage, and the Art of Handmade Treasures

“A Tapestry of Love: Juggling Motherhood, Marriage, and the Art of Handmade Treasures”

In the intricate tapestry of life, I have woven together the roles of a mother, wife, and passionate creator of unique, handmade treasures. My journey is a testament to the beauty that unfolds when love, creativity, and entrepreneurship come together seamlessly. Join me as I share the story of how I navigate the joys and challenges of being a mother, wife, and the proud owner of a business that thrives on upcycled clothing and one-of-a-kind items.

Motherhood: A Symphony of Love and Chaos

Becoming a mother was a transformative experience that added new hues to the canvas of my life. Balancing the responsibilities of raising children, managing a household, and pursuing my creative endeavors is like conducting a symphony. Each day brings its own set of challenges, but the laughter of my children and the warmth of their hugs are the melodies that keep me going.

Wife and Business Partner: A Dynamic Duo

My husband, my rock and confidant, stands beside me as we navigate the twists and turns of life together. From parenting decisions to business strategies, we make a dynamic duo. Running our own business has not only strengthened our partnership but has also allowed us to blend our individual strengths into a harmonious collaboration. Together, we’ve built a foundation rooted in love, support, and the shared vision of a thriving handmade business.

Handmade Crafting: The Art of Turning Dreams into Reality

In the quiet corners of our home, you’ll find the heart of my creativity – a dedicated space for crafting. Armed with a passion for handmade goods, I transform discarded fabrics into unique pieces of wearable art. Upcycled clothing and one-of-a-kind items are my specialty, each telling a story of renewal and sustainability. It’s not just about crafting; it’s about breathing new life into forgotten materials and creating something extraordinary.

The Business Journey: From Dream to Reality

Launching my own business was a leap of faith, but with the unwavering support of my family, I turned my dreams into reality. From setting up an online store to participating in local markets, the journey has been both challenging and rewarding. The business not only allows me to share my creations with the world but also empowers me to contribute to a more sustainable and conscious way of living.

Finding Balance: A Work of Art in Itself

Balancing the demands of motherhood, marriage, and entrepreneurship is an ongoing process. It’s about setting priorities, time management, and, most importantly, acknowledging that some days may be more about survival than perfection. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, there is a beauty in the balance we strive for, creating a life rich in love, creativity, and purpose.

Conclusion:

As a mother, wife, and handmade crafter, my life is a collage of love, artistry, and shared dreams. The journey of running a business alongside my husband has not only strengthened our bond but has also allowed us to create a life that resonates with passion and purpose. In the delicate dance of balancing family, love, and creativity, I’ve found that the true masterpiece lies in embracing the imperfections and celebrating the unique tapestry of a life well-lived.

My journey into reselling and doing my part to save the planet

My journey into reselling began early on in my life. I can remember as a child being fascinated by the vintage 50s prom dresses and playing dress up.  Later when I started junior high.I wanted to be on trend with the cool kids and have the guess and girbaud jeans. My mom would give me money and I would buy my clothing at the thrift store. I started selling at my brother and sisters store in my late twenties. I was successful and continued to sell there until they retired. I took a break from selling clothing for a couple of years. I had a huge sale and sold a lot of my inventory. I did save about seven trunks and stashed them. I figured I would figure out what to do when the timing was right. At that point I needed a new experience and started a job as a line cook.Five years ago I bought a few items on poshmark and I thought to myself wait a minute I can do that. I listed my first items and sold them. Now five years later I’m very close to 5000 sales and I have 1600 active items in my closet. I feel good about my impact on the planet by recycling fashion. Selling clothes to Clothes Mentor and Plato’s Closet

I went to Clothes Mentor and Plato’s Closet to sell clothes to see which consignment stores’ pay-out was more. I’ve never been to Clothes Mentor, but I’ve sold clothes to Plato’s Closet. The last time I sold clothes to Plato’s Closet was over 10 years ago, so this experience was like the first time.

I decided to go to Plato’s Closet first because while scrolling through social media I came across another reseller saying she received a larger pay-out at Plato’s Closet than at Clothes Mentor. In my area, the two consignment stores are in a shopping plaza next door to one another. So, it made it convenient to conduct this experiment.  As I mentioned before, it has been over a decade since I’ve shopped at Plato’s Clothes, so  I was no longer familiar with the rules of selling clothes with them. I was told by a sales associate that when selling clothes, the items needed to be in a bag, which at the time I didn’t not have one. I went next door to Clothes Mentor, and because it was my first time selling with them, they did take my clothes and asked if I could bring them in a bag next time.

I sold 9 items to Clothes Mentor for $45.20.  Of those items there were 6 pairs of jeans ( 3 Free People, Rag & Bone, Lucky Brand),  1 Boohoo cardigan, and  2 Fashion Nova Dresses.  So that averages out to be about $5 per item. In my opinion, that’s not too bad. After a few weeks, I eventually made it back to Clothes Mentor and  Plato’s Closet.  I sold 5 items to each store, resulting in 10 items sold overall. Each store I sold 1 sweater, 2 pairs of jeans, 1 dress, and 1 top.  There was a range of different brands including, Boohoo, Levi, and  Michael Kors. Clothes Mentor pay-out was $22.50 and Plato’s Closet was $22.25. Again, an average of $5 per item. Which I don’t think that’s a bad average.

In my opinion, in my area it doesn’t matter which consignment store I choose to sell clothes. Their payouts are similar quite. Granted, a 25 cent different is a dealbreaker, and I would stop at Clothes Mentor first, but if they aren’t buying clothes that day or are closed, I wouldn’t mind going next door to Plato’s Closet.

I  would sell clothes to Plato’s Closet and Clothes Mentor to get things out of my Poshmark closet that has sat for a long period of time, and has not sold.

Understanding SEO and How to Leverage it for Your Reselling Business

Understanding SEO and How to Leverage it for Your Reselling Business

Whether you’re a newcomer to the world of reselling or a seasoned pro, optimizing your online presence for search engines can play a pivotal role in driving success.  Here on Seller Cave, there is no algorithm however, everything is found by SEO. Welcome to the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)! In this blog, we’ll dive into the essentials of SEO and discuss strategies tailored for resellers.

What is SEO?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a marketing discipline focused on growing visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine results. It encompasses both the technical and creative elements required to improve rankings, drive traffic, and increase awareness in search engines.

When you type a query into a search engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo, the engine uses complex algorithms to determine which pages are most relevant to your query. SEO is all about ensuring that your content ranks as high as possible in these search results.

Why is SEO Important for Reselling?

If you’re in the reselling business, chances are you’re selling online. This means that potential customers are likely searching for the products you offer. By optimizing your website and content for SEO, you can:

  1. Increase Traffic: The higher your site ranks, the more clicks and visits you’ll receive.
  2. Boost Credibility: Websites that appear on the first page of search results are generally seen as more trustworthy.
  3. Gain Competitive Advantage: Proper SEO can help you outrank competitors, even if they’ve been in the business longer.

How to Utilize SEO for Your Reselling Business:

  1. Keyword Research: Begin by identifying keywords relevant to the products you sell. Tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest can help. Aim for a mix of broad and long-tail keywords.
  2. Optimize Your Product Listings: Make sure product titles, descriptions, and meta tags include relevant keywords. For example, instead of “vintage dress,” you might use “vintage 1950s red swing dress.”
  3. User Experience (UX): Ensure your website is mobile-friendly, easy to navigate, and loads quickly. A positive user experience can directly influence your ranking.
  4. Quality Content: Regularly produce high-quality content related to your niche. This could be blog posts about how to style the products you’re selling or guides on the history of certain vintage items.
  5. Backlinks: Backlinks, or links from other websites to yours, can significantly boost your site’s credibility and ranking. Collaborate with bloggers or influencers in your niche, guest post on other sites, or engage in relevant forums to build backlinks.
  6. Social Media and Reviews: Encourage happy customers to leave positive reviews and share their purchases on social media. User-generated content can be a goldmine for SEO.
  7. Monitor and Adjust: SEO is not a one-time task. Use tools like Google Analytics to monitor your traffic and see which keywords or strategies are working. Adjust your strategies based on these insights.

In Conclusion:

SEO is an invaluable tool for any online business, especially for resellers in today’s digital age. By understanding the basics and continuously optimizing your online presence, you can drive more organic traffic to your site, convert more sales, and watch your reselling business thrive.
