Why I resell

I started to resell on Poshmark Canada in 2021 to start selling personal items I no longer use.  Now I have branched out to thrifting.  I resell second hand clothing and new with tags that I find at thrift stores.  I resell on Poshmark and Poshmark Canada.  Once I figure out the different shipping options on Ebay.com as I live in Canada, I will start reselling on that platform.  Below are the benefts of reselling clothing that I have discovered.

Cross list your items to multiple platforms

Crosslisting, also known as multi-platform listing, is the practice of listing an item for sale on multiple online marketplaces. This strategy has become increasingly popular among online sellers as it allows them to reach a wider audience and potentially increase sales. In today’s fast-paced and competitive e-commerce landscape, cross listing offers numerous benefits for both buyers and sellers.

The concept of cross listing is simple – instead of limiting your item to just one marketplace, you list it on several platforms at the same time. This means that potential buyers can find your item on multiple sites, increasing the chances of a sale. For example, if you have a vintage dress for sale, you can list it on eBay, Etsy, and Depop simultaneously. This way, you can attract buyers from three different marketplaces, each with its own unique user base.

One of the main advantages of cross listing is the increased exposure for your items. By listing on multiple platforms, you have a better chance of reaching potential buyers who may not have found your item otherwise. This is especially beneficial for niche or specialized items that may not have a large audience on a single platform. It also allows you to tap into different demographics and target markets, expanding your customer base.

Cross listing also helps to diversify your sales channels, reducing your reliance on one platform. If one marketplace experiences a slump in sales or shuts down, you still have other channels to generate income from. This is particularly important for small businesses and independent sellers who may not have the resources to solely rely on one platform.

Furthermore, cross listing can help improve your search engine ranking. When your item is listed on multiple platforms, each listing will link back to your store or website, ultimately boosting your online presence. This can have a positive impact on your search engine optimization (SEO) and increase your visibility in search results.

Another benefit of cross listing is the ability to test different pricing strategies. Each marketplace has its own unique user base and pricing trends. By listing on multiple platforms, you can experiment with different pricing models and find the one that works best for your item. This can help you determine the optimal price for your item and maximize your profits.

However, cross listing also has its challenges. Managing inventory and stock levels across different platforms can be time-consuming and may lead to overselling if not carefully monitored. It is important to keep track of your inventory levels and update them regularly on each platform to avoid any discrepancies.

Additionally, cross listing may also mean increased fees and charges from each platform. It is important to factor in these costs when deciding which platforms to list on and pricing your items.

To effectively cross list your items, it is crucial to have a streamlined process in place. This includes keeping track of inventory levels, pricing, and shipping methods. Utilizing inventory management software or listing tools can help automate this process and save you time and effort.

In conclusion, cross listing your items on multiple platforms can bring numerous benefits to your e-commerce business. It allows you to reach a wider audience, diversify your sales channels, and improve your search engine ranking. However, it is essential to have a well-organized and efficient process in place to successfully manage cross listing. With the right strategy and tools, cross listing can be a game-changer for your online business.

PS: today thanks to Crosslisting so far I’ve sold a Kate Spade purse on Whatnot a Louis Vuitton on Poshmark and fox racing T-shirt on Curtsy.

How styles have evolved

through the years

Fashion is an ever-changing industry, with styles constantly evolving and adapting to the times. From the elaborate gowns of the Victorian era to the minimalistic designs of today, fashion has come a long way in terms of style and trends. Let’s take a journey through the years and explore how different styles have evolved over time.

1900s-1920s: The Victorian era was characterized by the use of corsets, bustles, and long, heavy gowns. Women’s fashion was all about being modest and covering up. However, with the turn of the century, fashion started to become more relaxed. The introduction of the sewing machine made it easier for women to create their own clothing, leading to a rise in the popularity of tailored suits and simplified dresses. The 1920s saw the emergence of the flapper style, with shorter hemlines, loose-fitting dresses, and a more rebellious attitude towards fashion.

1930s-1950s: The Great Depression of the 1930s had a significant impact on fashion, with people opting for more practical and affordable clothing. Women’s fashion in this era was all about being elegant and sophisticated, with the iconic silhouette of the hourglass figure. The 1940s saw the rise of military-inspired clothing, with women wearing tailored suits and pencil skirts. The 1950s marked the beginning of the ‘golden age’ of fashion, with Dior’s New Look revolutionizing women’s fashion with full skirts, nipped-in waists, and a feminine silhouette.

1960s-1970s: The 1960s brought about a cultural shift in fashion, with the rise of youth culture and the influence of pop art. The mini skirt became a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, and colors and patterns were bolder and more playful. The 1970s saw a continuation of this trend, with the introduction of bell-bottom pants, platform shoes, and the iconic wrap dress by Diane von Furstenberg. This decade also saw the rise of bohemian fashion, with flowy dresses, fringe, and floral prints becoming popular.

1980s-1990s: The 1980s were all about excess and extravagance, with the rise of power dressing. Women’s fashion was characterized by padded shoulders, bold colors, and oversized accessories. The 1990s, on the other hand, saw a shift towards more casual and grunge-inspired fashion. Influenced by the music scene, women started wearing baggy jeans, flannel shirts, and combat boots.

2000s-present: The 2000s saw a revival of many past trends, with a modern twist. Low-rise jeans, crop tops, and velour tracksuits were all the rage in the early 2000s. As the decade progressed, fashion became more diverse, with the rise of streetwear and athleisure. In recent years, there has been a push towards sustainable and ethical fashion, with a focus on timeless and versatile pieces rather than fast fashion trends.

In conclusion, fashion has come a long way since the Victorian era. From restrictive and modest clothing to more relaxed and expressive styles, fashion has evolved to reflect the changing times and attitudes of society. With technology and social media playing a significant role in shaping fashion, it’s safe to say that styles will continue to evolve and adapt in the years to come.

How to pay less for expensive luxury fashion items

Luxury fashion items are often seen as a status symbol and a way to showcase wealth and style. However, they can also come with a hefty price tag, making it difficult for the average person to afford them. But fear not, there are ways to pay less for these expensive items without compromising on quality or style. Here are some tips on how to score luxury fashion items for less.

1. Shop during sales and promotions
One of the best ways to pay less for luxury fashion items is to wait for sales and promotions. Many high-end brands have seasonal sales where they offer discounts on their past collections. This is the perfect opportunity to snag that designer handbag or pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing at a fraction of the original price. Keep an eye out for promotions as well, such as buy-one-get-one-free deals or discounts for first-time customers.

2. Shop at outlet stores
Outlet stores are a great way to find luxury fashion items at discounted prices. These stores sell past season’s collections or items with minor defects at a reduced price. You can find outlet stores for many luxury brands, both online and in physical locations. Just be sure to do your research and check the authenticity of the items before making a purchase.

3. Buy pre-owned items
Another way to save on luxury fashion items is to buy pre-owned. There are many online marketplaces and consignment stores that sell gently used designer items at a fraction of the original price. These items are often in excellent condition and can be a great way to score a deal on a luxury item you’ve been wanting. Just be sure to thoroughly check the item’s condition and authenticity before making a purchase.

4. Consider renting
If you have your eye on a luxury item for a special occasion, consider renting it instead of buying it. There are many online rental services that offer a wide range of designer items for a fraction of the retail price. This is a great option for those who want to wear a luxury item without the hefty price tag attached to it.

5. Buy classic and timeless pieces
Investing in classic and timeless pieces is a smart way to save on luxury fashion items. These items never go out of style and can be worn for years to come, making them worth the investment. Plus, classic pieces tend to hold their value well, so you can always resell them in the future if needed.

6. Use credit card rewards and loyalty programs
Some credit cards offer rewards and cashback on purchases, including luxury fashion items. Take advantage of these rewards and use them towards your luxury purchases to save some money. Additionally, many luxury brands have loyalty programs that offer exclusive discounts and perks to their members. Sign up for these programs to get access to these benefits and save on your purchases.

7. Negotiate
Don’t be afraid to negotiate the price of a luxury item, especially if you’re buying it in person. Many high-end stores have some room for negotiation, so it doesn’t hurt to ask for a discount. Be polite and respectful, and you may be surprised at the deals you can score.

In conclusion, paying less for expensive luxury fashion items is not impossible. With a little patience, research, and smart shopping, you can save a significant amount of money while still indulging in your love for designer fashion. Remember to always prioritize quality and authenticity when making a purchase, and don’t be afraid to explore different avenues to find the best deals. Happy shopping!

How to sell luxury fashion items

Luxury fashion items are highly coveted and sought after by fashion enthusiasts all over the world. From designer handbags to high-end clothing, these items are known for their impeccable quality, unique designs, and exclusivity. Whether you are a fashion blogger, boutique owner, or just someone looking to make some extra cash, selling luxury fashion items can be a profitable venture. Here are some tips on how to successfully sell luxury fashion items.

1. Know your product: The first step to selling luxury fashion items is to have a thorough understanding of the product. Educate yourself on the brand, its history, and what makes it stand out from other luxury brands. Understand the materials used, the craftsmanship involved, and the target market for the brand. This knowledge will not only help you market the product better, but it will also build trust with potential buyers.

2. Target the right audience: Luxury fashion items are not for everyone. They cater to a specific audience who are willing to pay top dollar for quality and exclusivity. Identify your target audience and tailor your marketing efforts towards them. For example, if you are selling designer handbags, focus on reaching out to fashion-conscious individuals who appreciate luxury brands.

3. Create an online presence: In today’s digital age, having an online presence is crucial for any business. Create a website or social media accounts to showcase your luxury fashion items. Use high-quality images and descriptive captions to highlight the unique features of each product. Engage with your followers and respond to any inquiries promptly to build a loyal customer base.

4. Partner with influencers: Influencers have a significant impact on the buying decisions of their followers. Collaborate with fashion influencers who have a large following and are known for their love for luxury fashion. They can showcase your products to their audience, giving your brand more exposure and credibility.

5. Offer exceptional customer service: Luxury fashion items come with a hefty price tag, and customers expect exceptional service when making such a purchase. Be responsive to inquiries, provide accurate product information, and offer a seamless shopping experience. This will not only lead to more sales but also build a positive reputation for your brand.

6. Host events: Hosting events such as trunk shows or fashion shows can be an effective way to showcase your luxury fashion items. Invite potential customers, influencers, and fashion bloggers to get a first-hand look at your products. This will not only create buzz around your brand but also give customers a chance to touch and feel the products before making a purchase.

7. Consignment or resale: If you have luxury fashion items that you no longer use or want to sell on behalf of someone else, consider consignment or resale options. Consignment stores and online platforms, such as The RealReal and Vestiaire Collective, offer a platform for individuals to sell their pre-owned luxury items. This can be a great way to earn some extra cash while decluttering your wardrobe.

8. Provide authenticity and proof of purchase: With the rise of counterfeit products in the luxury fashion market, customers are becoming more cautious when making a purchase. To build trust with your customers, ensure that all your products come with proof of purchase and authenticity. This will give customers peace of mind knowing that they are investing in a genuine luxury item.

In conclusion, selling luxury fashion items requires a combination of knowledge, marketing, and exceptional customer service. With these tips in mind, you can successfully sell luxury fashion items and build a loyal customer base for your brand. Remember to always prioritize quality and authenticity, as these are the key factors that make luxury fashion items so desirable.

How to spot a knockoff fashion item.

In the world of fashion, there is no denying the allure of owning a designer piece. However, with the hefty price tags that come with these coveted items, many people turn to knockoffs or counterfeit versions to achieve the same look at a fraction of the cost. While it may seem like a harmless alternative, buying knockoff fashion items not only supports illegal practices but also leads to disappointment when the quality and authenticity of the product do not match the original.

So how can you spot a knockoff fashion item? Here are some tips to help you distinguish between the real deal and a counterfeit.

1. Check the Price

The price is often the first giveaway when it comes to spotting a fake fashion item. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Designer items are expensive for a reason – they are made with high-quality materials and superior craftsmanship. Knockoffs, on the other hand, are made with cheap materials and mass-produced, leading to a significant difference in price. If you come across a designer handbag that is being sold for a fraction of its original price, it is most likely a knockoff.

2. Look at the Quality

One of the easiest ways to spot a knockoff is by examining the quality of the item. Designer items are known for their impeccable quality and attention to detail. Knockoffs, on the other hand, are often made with subpar materials and lack the finesse of the original. Check for loose threads, uneven stitching, and cheap hardware – these are all signs of a fake. Also, pay attention to the fabric – designer items are made with high-quality fabrics that feel luxurious to the touch, while knockoffs often use cheap, synthetic materials.

3. Study the Logo and Labeling

Branding is everything in the world of fashion, and designer items are no exception. Counterfeiters often try to replicate the logo and labeling of designer items, but there are usually subtle differences that give them away. Look closely at the font, spacing, and positioning of the logo – if it looks slightly off, it is most likely a knockoff. Also, check for misspellings or incorrect placement of labels – designer items are made with precision, and any mistakes are a clear indication of a fake.

4. Pay Attention to Packaging

Another way to spot a knockoff fashion item is by examining its packaging. Designers take great care in the presentation of their products, and this includes the packaging. Authentic items come with dust bags, authenticity cards, and sometimes even a box with the brand’s logo. Knockoffs, on the other hand, often come with generic packaging or no packaging at all. If the item is missing any of these elements, it is most likely a fake.

5. Research the Seller

When purchasing designer items, it is essential to do your research on the seller. If you are buying from a reputable retailer, chances are they are selling authentic items. However, if you are buying from a third-party seller, be cautious. Look for reviews and ratings to ensure that the seller is trustworthy. If the seller has a history of selling knockoffs, it is best to steer clear of their products.

In conclusion, spotting a knockoff fashion item takes a keen eye and a bit of knowledge. By paying attention to the price, quality, branding, packaging, and seller, you can avoid falling victim to counterfeit items. Remember, buying knockoffs not only supports illegal practices but also leads to disappointment and waste of money. Invest in authentic designer items, and you will not only look stylish but also have a product that will last for years to come.
